Birthdays!

The boys' birthday parties were a little different this year.  Since their birthdays fall so close together, we've always done a big combination party.  This really works out well since several of Logan and Mason's classmates happen to be siblings.  But as they get older the bounce houses and pool parties started to get old...so I had them each invite three friends for a birthday sleepover (NOT on the same night...five boys at once in our little house is quite enough thank you very much )  They loved it!  Massive quantities of junk food were consumed, bedtimes were nonexistent, and video game battles ensued.  Pretty much check, check and check on the sleepover fun check list.  I will say though, the difference between nine year old boys and seven year old boys is huge: Mason's party was a little more chaotic than Logan's, but still so much fun!

First up was Logan's real birthday.  Can't believe my first baby is NINE!  Lucky boy actually got three celebrations this year.  On Sunday night my parents, in-laws, and Jeremy's grandparents came over for a cook out and cake.  I love that our families are close enough to join in these little get togethers!

Birthday boy wanted Perkins on his actual birthday...momma approved!

Time for the invasion sleepover!  As a party favor I took inexpensive pillow cases and had the guests names embroidered on.

I have always wanted to give out silly string at parties, but the cost for 30-40 kids?   Plus the mess?Yeah....but for five?  So much fun!

Sweet friends!

I love this pic of Mason during his party!  I didn't get nearly as many pictures during Mason's party-these guys kept me on my toes.  Mostly because they had so much energy...oh what I wouldn't give for that myself!

I was only asked 83 times when the firework show was going to start.  Definitely not fancy (grocery store fireworks)  but they loved them anyway!

Mason on his real birthday-oh how I love this kid!

Mason was really sweet this year opening his cards and gifts.  He took time to read his cards and say thank you...so glad to move past the stage of racing from one gift to the next!

Birthdays are a little bittersweet for me; I love seeing them grow and change...but sometimes I just want to hold four year old Logan or talk to three year old Mason again.  The days may be long but the years are so short!
